All buses stop at the Rose St Bus Depot*. From there we are a five minute walk. Head down the Twin Coast Discovery Highway toward Dent Street/ Town Basin Marina.

* Rose Street bus hub is being redeveloped. From Wednesday 8 January all buses will run from/to Vine Street instead. You can find further information about the redevelopment here

Wheelchair users

All galleries and facilities are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available from the front desk free of charge – please call +649 430 4240 or email whangareiartmuseum@wdc.govt.nz to book a wheelchair for your visit.

Mobility scooter

You can borrow a mobility scooter for free from Whangārei Art Museum to get around the Town Basin and the Hātea Loop. It has enough power to complete the entire loop and visit all the experiences the area has to offer.

The mobility scooter was donated to our District by NorthAble in 2014. To use the scooter, phone the Whangārei Art Museum between 10:00am and 4:00pm seven days a week, or call in as you are passing.

Zone 1 parking $2.00 per hour

The closest parking spaces are found in the Town Basin Car Park to the right of Whangārei Art Museum on Dent Street. There are two mobility carparks, a bay of charging ports for electric vehicles and standard parking spaces found here. Mobility Parking for use by those with a Mobility Parking Permit is free but maximum parking times still apply. Concessions are also available for Mobility Parking Permit holders who park in standard parking spaces.

Zone 3 parking $2.00 per day

Limited carparks are available at Carruth Street Carpark, 2 minutes walk away. The entrance is off Carruth Street and Reyburn Street, opposite Pak 'n' Save and by Animates

Free parking $0.00

There are free parking spaces available a short distance away at Finlayson St Carpark and Reyburn house lane carpark.
